Who We Are

Quad Cities* base of Kirks Auto Refitters. Purpose built in 1946 as a Buick dealership. The unique Art Deco inspired building had a service station in front with two bays, then customary exterior "ladies' room" facility, and interior office and "men's" facility.  Two gas pumps, long ago removed were placed strategically so those who stopped for service would get a view of the showroom and its new cars offerings.
(*The Quad Cities rests on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River and share a population of 400,000. The region is made up of Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa, and Moline/East Moline and Rock Island in Illinois ...and surrounding communities.)  SW corner

Streamline Moderne (the Streamline Movement)

To the west were four more bays and on the north, the alley side, you can see the seven-bay compliment and the concrete ramp on the left which led to the second story and 13 more bays. The bays on the north were the body shop while those to the south were for new car prep work.  NW corner

The building and two lots across the avenue and half block behind the building were used as a functional Buick dealership for 50 years.  Currently the building houses my personal collection of nearly 35 vehicles and affords space for my parts biz, working on my cars, and what service I can provide given my over taxed work time.
